09/11/2001 AMERICA UNDER ATTACK THOUSANDS OF INNOCENTS LIVES LOST. WE WILL PRAY FOR THEM. GOD BLESS AMERICA WEEK OF 11/26-12/02/2001 MONDAY'S NEWS http://www.contracostatimes.com/sports/football/raiders/stories/raidside_20011126.htm Kennedy pitched the next best thing to a shutout. For a guy who was supposed to be a chronic underachiever, he sure is aging well. Last season, his eighth in the NFL (and fifth since coming to the Raiders from the Atlanta Falcons), Kennedy played in his first Pro Bowl. He has continued that stellar play this season. "I've had to overcome a lot of criticisms," Kennedy said. "When I was in Atlanta, I had a lot of guys like (coach Jerry) Glanville who didn't think I could do it." Glanville, now a member of the CBS pregame show, took yet another shot at Kennedy on the air Sunday morning. The Falcons considered Kennedy a talent, Glanville said, but knew Kennedy would realize his potential only when he learned two words: "I'm full." Glanville is full, too -- of himself. Kennedy, quiet and quietly effective, is having the last laugh on his former coach. "I think he showed today why he's a Pro Bowl right tackle," Gannon said. http://www.oaklandtribune.com/default.asp?puid=503&spuid=503&indx=1223826&article=on EXTRA POINTS: With his first catch of the game, Tim Brown became the fifth player in NFL history with 900 career receptions. With 905 career receptions, Brown joins Jerry Rice (1,325), Cris Carter (1,070), Andre Reed (951) and Art Monk (940) in the 900 club. ... The Raiders are now 13-2 against NFC opponents in the Jon Gruden era and have won 10 in a row against NFC teams. ... Garner's 39-yard run was the longest allowed by the Giants this season. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/chronicle/archive/2001/11/26/SP165091.DTL WILLIAM THOMAS is taking his game ball and his rain-soaked jersey back to Texas.
